![]() Once inside, you are surrounded by cliffs as the water cascades 180 down the rockface. The falls are inside a small box canyon enclosed between the Pillars of Hercules (aka two gigantic rocks). ![]() The Broadmoor Seven Falls, often referred to simply as the Seven Falls or even sometimes as “the grandest mile of scenery in Colorado”, is located in South Cheyenne Cañon and is considered one of Colorado’s most popular attractions. After climbing 2,744 steps, it connects with the Barr Trail for a more relaxing way back down. The hike is long and tiring and just when you think about giving up, remember that this is the same trail as the Pikes Peak Marathon and the participants must go to the top AND back.Īnother popular trail starting from Manitou Springs is the Manitou Incline. Along the trail, you cover over 8,000 feet in elevation gain and a distance of 13 miles one way. The trail starts near the train depot in Manitou Springs. If you are feeling energetic, you can also lace up your shoes and hike or bike to the top along Barr Trail. Although the train was closed in 2018 for refurbishing, it reopened again in the spring of 2021. The Pike’s Peak Cog Railway is the highest cog railroad that runs from Manitou Springs to the summit. The Manitou and Pike’s Peak Railway is a bit more fun and is a great activity for families with young children. The road is fully paved and is actually famous for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, a motor race that has been held there since 1916. You don’t need to be too worried about the drive though. The road consists of switchbacks called The Ws because of their distinctive shape as they hug the side of the mountain. The most straightforward (and possibly the “least” exciting is by road vehicle along Pike’s Peak Highway. There are a few different ways to go up to the peak of Pike’s Peak. The views from the summit are simply fantastic and the entire Pikes Peak region is a true sight to behold. ![]() Known as America’s Mountain, Pikes Peak is one of the famed “fourteeners” of the Rocky Mountains and is the highest summit of the southern Front Range. Manitou Springs is located around a 15-minute drive from Downtown and is easily accessible by public transport.
